Fáilte romhat as cairneys.org.
Since the publication of my book Clans and Families of Ireland and Scotland sixteen years
ago I have continued research into the ethnography and history of the Gaels, including our own
family, Cairney, which has several origins in Scotland and Ireland.
I am especially interested right now in the DNA section, which we are trying to build. DNA
shows where people are connected, so if your family has been separated by emigration, or if you
have lost track of your origins, you can easily recover them with a DNA test. For recent,
medieval or even prehistoric data about your ancestors, here is INSTANT GENEALOGY.
Once you have your results you can easily place yourself and your family within the long history
alluded to here and answer more recent genealogical questions about which line of descent you
belong to. Please see the link below and on the home page, and please, we need as many
Carneys, Carnies, Cairneys, Cairnies and Kearneys to participate in the FTDNA and
YSEARCH databases. If you're into genealogy or history at all, you'll be glad you did, and you
will help us build the database.
I encourage you to check out FTDNA. Its easy and its scientific. It is also popular, embraced
by all the clan societies, and it has already revolutionized Gaelic genealogy.
