Fáilte romhat as cairneys.org.
A Gaelic greeting. I have hopes of updating the look as well as content here. Make it
current and expand the depth of information. Probably work on its organization.
I am especially interested right now in the DNA section, which "we" are trying to build. By
"we" I mean interested Carneys/Cairneys/Kearneys and interested others. DNA proves
bloodline, at least for the male line. This is how we trace a clan or family: father to son.
What amazing power in a test. If applied side by side with historical or genealogical
knowledge, it is indeed a powerful tool that gives concrete answers. So, with some
guidance, if you have lost track of your origins, you can recover them with a DNA test. Along
with other genealogical and historical information, used in concert, DNA is the thing. We
want lots of Carneys, Carnies, Cairneys, Cairnies and Kearneys to participate in the FTDNA
and YSEARCH databases. Lots of clan societies are doing this now, both in Ireland and
Scotland.
